Receiving Healing from John of God – Part II

If you haven’t read Part 1 of my healing journey to visit John of God, I recommend you read that first before reading on.

My Results

I’m sure you’re curious about the results of the healing and if the herbs worked. For my husband and I, the herbs definitely did what we asked for. After my “invisible” surgery and revision, which took place a week after the surgery, I returned home and started eating my normal diet again. The bloating I had experienced was almost completely gone. I still had a mild case of lactose intolerance (common for those of Korean descent), but all of my bloating from fruits, breads, and other sugars were gone! That was good news! After three years of suffering from major digestive problems, it was such a relief to no longer have bloating problems anymore!

In addition to the physical healing of my digestive system, the day that I completed taking the herbs for my surgery was the last day of my old job. I don’t know if this was a coincidence, but it was just too closely tied to my herb taking schedule for me to consider it just a coincidence! The herbs were working.

If you remember, I was prescribed three sets of herbs. The first set of herbs were for my surgery in which I asked for physical healing for my digestive system. All was taken care of there.

The second set of herbs were prescribed after I asked for help finding my ideal career and my life purpose. The day that I finished my first set of herbs was the last day at my old job. You can read more about what I wrote the day before that last day here. The day that I started taking the second set of herbs was the day that I began my journey towards my new career path. Receiving Healing From John of God – Part 1

“The Casa”

If you have ever considered taking a spiritual trip or a healing trip, you might want to consider visiting John of God’s healing center, known as the “Casa,” short for the Casa de Dom Inacio (House of Saint Ignatius), in Abadiania, Brazil. It is a bit off the beaten path and can take quite a bit of travel time to get there, but once you are there, the healing center is free. You just need to pay for accommodations, which are modest, but usually includes food. The Casa is open every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and John of God sees everyone who comes to visit.

I originally heard about John of God, also known as Joao de Deus, through a news special on TV. What astounded me was that he performed physical surgeries on people without any anesthetic and the people being operated on didn’t show any indication of pain. It was fascinating! I couldn’t believe my eyes! Somehow, he was performing miracles and healing people.

Don’t worry, if you decide to go, you don’t have to do a physical surgery. You can choose to do one, but the majority of people opt for invisible surgeries, that is IF they are required to have a surgery at all. Most people are prescribed herbs or to sit in one of two different “current rooms,” which are meditation rooms.

Our Trip to John of God

My family took a trip down to La Casa in December 2008. I went, not for any particular health reason, but because I wanted to see what it was like for myself. My sister had gone there previously with a tour group for physical healing and was there for 40 days. She came back with some very interesting stories and looked like she had completely transformed. Something had changed in her, even if she was not completely healed. Read more →

What is Your Travel Dream?

What is your travel dream? Most people I know would love to travel more. It’s fun to visit some place new, completely different from your home environment. Taking a vacation builds memories, gives you much needed time off work, and allows you to experience a new world, even if only for a few days or a week or two. Travel can also help you feel free from the daily stresses of life and give you a sense of freedom as you explore the world.

As much as people want to travel, I find that most people put off travel unless there is a reason for it. Perhaps you’ve wanted to visit the pyramids of Egypt or take an Alaskan cruise, but time or finances got in the way. Most people I know might travel for family reunions over the holidays or for weddings, and other major life events, but the exciting trips for themselves are far and few in between. They take family trips are because others are involved, but don’t necessarily plan a trip for their own personal enjoyment. When was the last time you took a trip just because you wanted to?

If you are an avid traveler that plans your next adventure as soon as you get back from your most recent trip, good for you! It’s a great habit to have! But if you’re not one of these people, it’s time to add some new adventures to your life. It’s now time to schedule at least one vacation every year, one that is meaningful and exciting for you. Right now you may think time and money are the limiting factors, or perhaps the challenge of traveling with kids are a reason to stay put. I’m going to show you that traveling does not have to be super expensive, and any travel dream can be turned into reality. Read more →

What Would Make You Feel Free?

Freedom. We all want it. But most of us are living lives that are making us feel trapped. If you are anything like me, you yearn for freedom to do whatever it is you want in life.

What would make you feel free? TRULY free?

What is bogging you down and holding you back from being free to do whatever you want? Is it finances? Your job? A long to do list? Too much stuff? Clutter? Family obligations?

You are not alone. So many people yearn to live a life of freedom, but many think it’s just a pipe dream. They feel burdened by the duty to their families to bring in income. They don’t want to give up the financial security to pursue a risky idea. Or they think they are too old to make a change. These are the most common reasons I hear people use as reasons to give up on the things they really want in their lives.

But is it true? Is there no other way to provide for your family than your current job? Do you have to give up all financial security to pursue a dream? Are you really too old to make a change? I believe there are creative solutions to all problems. If we can take a look at the situation from a different perspective, there is always another way to reach our intended outcome if we can just step outside of our box. We need to think differently to create a different outcome.

What are some ways you can start to cut the cords that are holding you back? It helps to figure out what you want and give yourself reasons to start to untangle yourself from all the things that are making you feel trapped.

What is it that you really, really, REALLY want? Read more →

Spring is Here!

It’s been a long winter and being cooped up inside with a newborn has made it feel more so, but today as I was walking the dog I saw trees growing new buds and it really hit me that spring is finally here! No more one nice day amidst cold rainy ones. I’m pretty sure the warmer weather is here to stay!

Here are some photos I took on my lovely walk.

The trees are blooming with flowers!

I really liked the colorful row of houses. It reminded me (kind of) of the houses in San Francisco.

Walk in the Park

When you’re a new mom, finding time to go outside and talk a walk is a pretty big deal. Especially with the winter weather, you want to take advantage of the warmer days outside. I find myself wanting to go outside as often as I can, but I always have to time it perfectly with the baby’s feeding schedule, diaper changes, and my own energy level. When I’m sleep deprived, the only thing I can think about is taking a nap. A few days ago I was able to take a walk by myself to the park. My in-laws were visiting and looked after the baby while I was gone. I left right after I fed the baby and ended up taking an hour and a half long walk around the park. It was the first time I felt like I was getting some good exercise in. It was one of the first few days that I could actually walk at a normal pace after recovering from a c-section delivery.

Here are some photos I took at the park. The sun was starting to set. It was beautiful. I even managed to take a picture of a swan! When was the last time you saw a swan?

I saw this tree during my walk. It was carved with lots of names of people who have stopped by.

I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so that I can take more walks to the park with my baby! Read more →

Celebrating our 5 Year Anniversary

My husband and I took one last trip together last week before we are expecting the baby. It was to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and was essentially our “babymoon.” We went down to Puerto Vallarta for a week. Somewhere not too far and an easy place to vacation while pregnant. It’s nice to get that last trip out of our system so that we feel like we were able to get some r&r before the big day arrives.

Here’s a picture of us with an iguana and a little one on top of my head.

Traveling While Pregnant

New York

I read in a book something about not going through the machine at the airport while pregnant. Just to be safe, I decided to follow this advice and the first time I traveled while I was pregnant, I told the security folks that I did not want to go through the x-ray machine because I was pregnant. They kindly explained to me that the x-ray machine was the one our bags go through and that the machine we walk through was a magnetrometer (aka metal detector). They assured me it was safe for me to walk through, but I didn’t have to if I didn’t want to. They told me to do my research and look it up. And then mentioned that I could still request a pat down if I wanted. The woman who came to pat me down asked if I had a pace maker (I guess that’s why people do pat downs), and when I said no, she gave me a weird look. I told her I was pregnant, and she said it was safe to go through the machine, but took me anyway. So, off I went to do a pat down with a female security personnel. This was at an airport in NY.

Once we got to our gate, we looked up magnetrometer on our phones and it’s impact on pregnancy. I found many, many threads saying that they were safe. Hmmm, but many people thought smoking was safe. There are many things in our world that people don’t really know the long-term effects of. I decided to be safe and proceed with the “pat downs” on future flights. Now that I know what they are called, I can just ask for a pat down.

My first flight was to San Francisco. Read more →

Spring Is In Bloom!

I love flowers, and these flowers hanging from Kate’s Paperie are just so gorgeous that I had to take a photo. It’s amazing how it’s just all paper. The photo is a little fuzzy since I took this photo with my phone.

Trip to Central Park in New York

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were checking out the upper west side when I decided that we should walk through Central Park to get to the the other side to the upper east side. We’re fairly new to New York, so we wanted to see all the different neighborhoods in New York to figure out where we might like to live next year. I was expecting to see just a beautiful park with trails and trees and lots of people and grass. What I discovered was oh, so much more!

For example, as we set foot onto Central Park, we were greeted with a crowd that was looking at the ground. Curious, I looked over to find a beautiful display of cupcakes shaped arranged in the peace symbol around the word Imagine on the ground. Wow! The funny thing was, earlier that week, my husband saw Yoko Ono on the streets of New York.

Here are some photos of cupcakes!

Here are some shots of a wonderful little area within Central Park that we ran into with a fountain, boats, and entertainers. I later discovered that this place is called Bethesda Terrace.

John of God’s Soup Kitchen in Brazil

Last December, I visited Abadiania, Brazil with my family to visit John of God’s healing center. My sister, who had gone a couple of times before, showed us various sites in the neighborhood. One of our various neighborhood trips was to the soup kitchen on the other side of the highway from the healing center. This was where the locals lived, and many of them were poor.

John of God built a soup kitchen there where people could come and eat hearty soup several times a week. We visited it to see what it was like. I was surprised by what I saw. It was nothing like what I had imagined. I imagined a small little room that served soup on picnic tables. I was expecting a very modest place that was dim, basic, and all brown or beige in decor. After all, it was just a place to serve soup.

When we arrived, I was surprised to see a bright white and blue structure that was decorated with Christmas decorations. It was during the holiday season, after all. I did not expect money to be spent on such festive decorations. Walking inside, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful paintings that hung inside. The interior was bright and airy in the warm summer weather. How nice. It was the best soup kitchen I’ve ever seen.

Here are some photos of the exterior with Santa and his reindeers.

The portrait is of St. Ignatius de Loyola:

Martha Stewart Studio

I was walking around New York after taking a class at FIT, and walked past Martha Stewart’s Studio. I was so happy to see it, even though I was just walking by. Here’s a photo of it that I wanted to share with you!

I took this photo on 26th Street, just west of 7th Avenue. Read more →

Flight to NY

I just wanted to share a photo that I took from my phone at the airport a couple of weeks ago. It’s so ordinary that most people walking by wouldn’t have given it much thought, but as I saw the sign while we were walking down the hallway, it was almost felt like the sign was speaking directly to me! “Welcome to Laguardia!”

There was nothing special about the airport, and it was late at night, but I relished every moment of it because that night was the beginning of my new journey in the Big Apple. It represented the day that I arrived in live in New York. Oh, how good it felt to finally arrive!

I’m sure you’ve felt a similar feeling in your lives. You’ve wanted something for so long and it just wouldn’t come fast enough. Pretty soon, years went by and you wondered what happened to that dream of yours. Until you gave birth to that dream again. Something triggered the re-brith of that desire, and you begin to think about it all the time. That’s what happened for me, and finally the moment came … I had arrived. Just wanted to share that special moment with you. I’m in NY at last! I’m still soaking it in… Read more →
